Registering your Firm & Training Requirements for RRP

On July 9, 2010, the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety (DOS) took over the enforcement of the EPA's Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP Rule), making MA the ninth state to assume control of the RRP Rule. The MA DOS, in conjunction with the Executive Office for Administration and Finance made several changes to both the Deleading and Lead-Safe Renovation regulation and the Licensing Fees for Lead-Safe Renovation Contractors  and Lead-Safe Renovator Training Providers.


REQUIRED TO REGISTER:

FOR MASSACHUSETTS - NEW MA Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor:

* If you filed your EPA RRP Firm Application prior to July 9, 2010:

If you have already registered your Firm with the EPA prior to July 9, 2010 and you conduct your business in Massachusetts, you will only need to fill out the MA Renovator (RRP) Waiver - Click here for Form and send this, along with a copy of theEPA RRP Firm Certification, along with your individual RRP Certificate to the MA DOS. (no additional cost)

* If you have NOT filed your EPA RRP Firm Application by July 9, 2010:

If you have not yet registered your Firm prior to July 9, 2010 and you conduct your business in Massachusetts, you will need to fill out the
MA Renovator (RRP) Contractor Application -
Click here for Form also provide a copy of the RRP Certificate obtained from the training course, and send it with a bank certified check or money order for $375.00 to the MA DOS.

Note: A responsible person and/or manager of the company must be RRP
trained and certified prior to submitting this application.

FOR New England: ME, NH, VT, CT, NY - EPA RRP Firm Certification:

Continuing from April 22, 2010

If you conduct business in the New England States (ME, NH VT, CT & NY) that are still under EPA enforcement: You will need to fill out the EPA RRP Firm Application - Click here for Form and send it in with a check or money order for $300.00 to the U.S. EPA.

* High Risk Deleading**: yearly licencing fee $575

PB 111 Initial - Contractor/Supervisor Deleader
PB 146 Refresher - every year
(covers RRP requirement)
or
PB 141 Initial - Worker Deleader
PB 146 Refresher - every year
(covers RRP requirement)

* Moderate Risk Deleading - Supervisors
(5)yrs licencing fee $375

PB 365 Initial - EPA RRP /MASS - Lead Safe Renovator
PB 366 Refresher - every (5) years

and
PB 413 (4) hr class - Lead-Safe Renovator - Supervisor
Moderate Risk Deleading Option / add-on

* Moderate Risk Deleading:

PB 365 Initial - EPA RRP /MASS - Lead Safe Renovator
PB 366 Refresher - every (5) years


** Note: if you have taken more than 8 hrs of deleading traning you may qualify for the 4hr refresher* in order to meet the RRP requirment for MASS. In addition, if you will be working in the other New England states regulated by the EPA, you must also take this (4) hr Refresher*.
* PB 366 (4) hr Refresher - every (5) years

If you are already a trained deleader - you may qualify to take the:
